are and why they
are effective
Humates are sodium and potassium salts of the humic acids. Humates are the humus concentrate which is the basis of soil fertilit.

A fertile topsoil is called humus (from the Latin humus: earth, ground). It forms when plant and animal matter decays because of microorganisms’ activity. The most important components for fertility are the humic acids. They are the main source of plant nutrition. Intensive agriculture and insufficient organic fertilizer application cause the decrease of the humic acid concentration which adversely affects both soil fertility and its physical and chemical condition. There are various methods for avoiding soil depletion and the most effective is humate application.
Humates are manufactured by alkalization of the humic acids adding salts of metal highest valency (usually sodium or potassium) and the subsequent ion exchange reaction. In fact, the gelled humate is ultrahigh concentration of organic acids. The main raw material for the production is humification product.
Biohumus. A thin topsoil on which plants grow. It takes decades for its formation and it contains 1-5% (black soil up to 7) of organic acids. Sapropel. The bottom layers of stagnant waters. Its formation takes up to 100 years, its concentration is up to 15%. It’s unprofitable for humates manufacturing, but it’s used in pure form. Peat. Dead lower parts of sphagnum moss, humidified for several thousand years. The top layer contains 7-10% and the lowland up to 50% of organic acids. The first is used in pure form; the second one can be used for getting humates.Earthy brown coal. Also called humic coal. It is formed under the influence of lignin, containing in the cell membrane of vascular plants and causing its lignification. It takes tens of thousands years and contains up to 60% of acids. They are less concentrated in the intermediate and compact coal, sometimes up to 5%. In the decomposed coal is up to 95%. Such weak coalified coal, called lignit, is rare. The biggest deposit is Solntsevsky deposit, on Sakhalin island. The weakly oxidized lignit mined there contains 85% of acids on the whole and was named Leonardite. Its main advantage is that it was forming from terrestrial biomass.which was on the surface of the earth millions of years ago, so Leonardite is the strongest concentrate of the various elements needed for rapid plant growth and restore soil fertility. The humic acids give the whole composition of micronutrients needed for plants. In the production process humate is additionally enriched with macro fertilizers in chelated form.
It is used as soil and foliar dressing, as well as for pre-seeding treatment of planting material. It acts not only as a fertilizer but also as a natural growth stimulant which gives a guaranteed harvest crop. It is not only environmentally friendly, but also neutral, which allows using it in tank mixtures with any pesticides and fungicides. It reduces the number of treatments and saves time and money.

Leonardite is a natural oxidized lignit. The leonardite biological activity is approximately 5 times higher than activity of the other sourses of the humic acids.
